Police qualify
Dhaka, November 18: Bangladesh Police qualified for
the final round of the Walton Federation Cup beating BKSP 2-0 at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on
Monday.
Police took the lead in the 25th
minute through a combined attack. Forward Johirul Islam dashed through the
midfield and his shot was saved by a diving BKSP custodian Mahafuz Hasan
Pritom, however the ball slipped out of his grip and unmarked forward Amirul
Islam pushed the ball into the net (1-0)
Johirul Islam doubled the margin in the 38th
minute, taking a square pass of winger Kabirul Islam in the middle of the box
Jahirul placed the ball into the far post net (2-0).
BKSP midfielder Rohit Sarker wasted an
opportunity in the 52nd minute as he was a little late to connect a
through pass and Police goalie Azam Khan dived forward to grab the ball.
Substitute forward Foisal Ahmed’s 25 yarder in
the 67th minute was coolly taken Police custodian Azam Khan.
in the 86th
minute Police defender Sarwar fouled BKSP midfielder Saddam inside the box but
Rohit Sarker missed the penalty.
Police will play in
the final round in group C.
