Dhaka, November 29: Sheikh Jamal beat Dhaka
Mohammedan 3-1 in the first quarterfinal of the Walton Federation Cup at the
Bangabandhu National Stadium on Friday.
Sony Norde put his team ahead in the 34th
minute after the Haitian forward received a long ball from Nigerian attacker
Darlingtion and dribbled past three defenders
before placing the ball into the near post with a placing shot. (1-0)
Mohammedan saw luck against them in the 32nd
minute when Emily’s header on a cross of
Habibur Rahman Shohag fly over the crosspiece.
In the 45th minute Sony again went past
Mohammedan defender Baybeck but placed the wide off the side post.
Sony doubled the lead in the 54th minute as he
dribbled past the Mohammedan defence line with a long ball and placed the ball
past Mohammedan goalie Mamun Khan from a close range. (2-0)
Skipper Mamunul Islam scored the third in the 82nd minute with a
low shot after the midfielder took control of a clearance at the top of the box
and drilled home from the top of the box. (3-0)
In the 84th minute Mohammedan’s Nigerian
forward Chuka Charles reduced the margin with a left footed placing shot from
the right edge of the box. (3-1)
Jamal will play the semifinal against the
winner of Dhaka Abahani-Feni Soccer quarterfinal on December 4th.
