Jamal move to final
Dhaka, December 6: Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club moved into
the final of the Walton Federation Cup beating Abahani Ltd. 3-0 in the first semifinal at the Bangabandhu
National Stadium on Friday.
Jamal took the lead in the 5th minute after
Nigerian attacker Darlington made the way for onrushing attacking partner
Wedson at the top of the box and the Haitian forward chipped the ball into the
far post net (1-0)
Sony Norde, the Haitian forward of Sheikh Jamal extended the
lead in the 21st minute when he took possession of back pass of
Abahani skipper Atikur Rahman Mishu and placed the ball into the near post (2-0)
In the 38th minute Sony Norde sealed the fate of
the match when he ran past the Abahani defence and scored his second goal with
an angular shot from the middle of the box (3-0)
Abahani tried to stage a comeback after the break and in
the 51st minute Brazilian
Louis de Souza’s shot went straight to Jamal goalie Zia.
In the 63rd minute Abahani’s Ghanaian forward
Osie Morrison’s head was grabbed by Zia.
In the 90th minute Abahani defender Samad Youssef
fouled Sony Norde inside the box but in the resulting penalty Sony shot the
ball wide off the sidepost.
