Muktis beat BJMC 2-1
Dhaka, January 10: Muktijoddha beat Team BJMC by 2-1 goals in the Bangladesh Premier League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Friday.
In the very 4th minute Muktijoddha took the lead as midfielder Shafikul Islam Bipul’s fierce angular shot from the right edge of the box slipped from the gloves of diving BJMC goalkeeper Ariful Islam (1-0)
In the 19th minute Abdullah al Parvez’s cross from the right flank was headed by BJMC’s Nigerian midfielder Samsom Iliayasu but the ball missed the side post.
In the 40th minute BJMC forward Aminur Rahman Sajib saw his head of a free kick of Abdulla Parvez hit the crosspiece
Muktijoddha took their lead in the 45th minute to a two goal cushion with a brilliant effort of their Nigerian defender Eleta Benjamin. Taking a corner of Maruf Ahmed, Eleta tipped the ball in the air and his superb back volley crashed into the near post (2-0)
BJMC reduced the margin in the 61st minute through their Nigerian midfielder Samson Iliyasu who chipped the ball over Muktijoddha goalie Russel Mahmud Liton in the 60th minute. He received the ball from midfielder Omar Faruk Babu (2-1)
Muktijoddha’s point rose to four from two matches while BJMC’s point remained at three from two matches.
