Brothers beat Ctg Abahani
Dhaka, January 18: Brother Union Limited registered
their second win in the Bangladesh
Premier League beating 2-1 at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Saturday.
Brothers had chance to take the lead in the 11th
minute but Nigerian forward Kester Akon missed it as his shot from the box went
over the crosspiece having one on one situation with goalie Md. Piaruzzaman.
Chittagong Abahani Limited were very close to
score when their forward Masuk Mia Jony’s shot was saved by Brothers goalie
Sabuj Das Rogu for corner in the 25th minute.
However, forward Jewel Rana put Brothers ahead
in the 32nd minute with a placing shot after the ball was provided
by Faisal Mahmood. (1-0).
In the 34th minute Brothers could
have been doubled the lead but Jewel Rana’s header hit the far post on a corner
off midfielder Faisal Mahmud.
Brothers doubled the lead through their
substitute forward Victor Antoni 83rd minute. After taking a ball
from midfield, the wily midfielder Rubel Miah went past two defenders and took a shot to goal post but
goalie Piaruzzaman blocked the ball. The Nigerian forward Victor placed the
ball into the net on the rebounder.
Midfielder Safautur Rahman reduced the margin in
the 87th minute with a nice header.
After this win, the Gopibagh outfit earned 6
points from 4 matches while the port city outfit remained on their previous
collection one point from the same number of matches.
