Zahid Hassan Emily slotted five goals as title contenders Mohammedan Sporting Club recorded a massive 7-0 win over Arambagh Krira Shangha in the Citycell Bangladesh League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium yesterday.
With this huge win, the black and whites reduced the margin with leaders and archrivals Abahani who are top of the table with 46 points. Mohammedan followed with 42 two points.
Mohammedan were dominating Arambagh from the very beginning of the match and Emily missed a couple of chances before finally breaking the deadlock after 38 minutes. He got the ball in the area and flicked it over rival goalkeeper Mitul. Arambagh’s Khan Sharif attempted to save it in the last moment but his efforts went in vein.
Emily scored the second goal of the match with a long range shot in the 44th minute and completed his hattrick from a penalty in the 49th. The referee had awarded the spotkick after a handball by Arambagh defender Deen Mohammad.
In the 53rd minute Nasir Uddin utilized a nice pass from their Nigerian playmate Bukola to score while two minutes later, Bukola, who played after spending two matches outside the squad, scored from outside the box.
The sixth goal showed how organized and disciplined the Mohammedan side were on the pitch. They built the attack stringing short passes together and Wali Faisal led the final pass to Emily for the national striker’s fourth of the game.
Emily also sealed the victory in the 89th minute with a splendid shot from outside the penalty area to join Sheriff Deen Mohammad of Abahani and Sameer Omari of Sheikh Russel as joint top scorer (12 goals) of the league.
