BJMC hold Russell
Dhaka, January 30: Team BJMC held Sheikh Russell to a 1-1 draw in the Bangladesh Premier League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Thursday.
In the 10th minute Team BJMC forward Aminur Rahman Sajib came close to a strike as he carried an Ismael Bangoura through pass past the Russell defence but his shot was saved for a corner by a diving Russell goalie Biplob.
Russell’s Jamaican midfielder Ricardo Cousins saw his fierce shot from the right edge of the box hit the outside net in the 40th minute.
Samson Iliyasu put Team BJMC ahead in the 49th minute when he snatched the ball from Russell defender Reza and beat goalie Biplob with powerful drive from 20 yards (1-0).
Md. Robin equalized for Russell in the 71st minute after Jamaican midfielder Ricardo Cousins paved the way for him at the top of the box and Robin beat the opponent defence’s attempted off-side trap before scoring from a close range (1-1).
Russell have 11 points from seven matches while BJMC has seven points from six matches.
