Dhaka, February 04: Mohammedan Sporting Club was held to a 1-1
draw by Brothers Union in the Nitol Tata Bangladesh Premier League at the
Bangabandhu National Stadium on Tuesday.
Forward Zahid Hasan Ameli put Mohammedan ahead in
the 43rd minute. The wily striker sent a ball over the advancing
Brothers goalie Md. Sujon with elegant touch of toe after the ball was provided
by midfielder Towhidul Alam Sabuz with a nice right footed chip. (1-0)
Midfielder Faisal Mahmud missed a chance to
restore the parity but his shot was saved by Mohammedan goalie Titumir
Chowdhury Titu for a corner in the 51st minute.
However, Brothers Ghanaian defender Isshah
Yousuf leveled the match from a penalty shot after Nigerian forward Kester Akon
was brought down by Mohammedan defender Tapu Barman in the 75th
minute.
After this draw the traditional black and white
went up to 11 points from eight matches while the Gopibagh outfit earned 9
points from the same number of matches.
