Apr 18, 2010: Abahani Lmited crushed Arambagh KS by 3-0 goals in today’s lone match of the Citycell Bangladesh League 2009 at the Bangabandhu National Stadium. With their sixteenth win in seventeen matches the defending champions retained their lead in the points table with 49 points.
Abahani’s Ghanaian recruit Awudu Ibrahim scored the opening goal in the 33rd minute. He entered the penalty area dodging an Arambagh defender and scored with a powerful shot. Apart from the goal the only excitement of the first half came when a long range shot by Abahani midfielder Pranotosh struck the bar.
In the 51st minute Enamul dabbled the lead for the sky blues when the striker got the ball near the six yard box and shot past the rival goalkeeper.
The referee awarded penalty in the 54th minute when Parvez of Arambagh tackled Enamul illegally from behind and Enamul successfully converted from the spot.
Enamul got two more chances to get his first hattric of the season but he could not utilize any of them. After their eighth loss in seventeen matches Arambagh were tenth in the point table with 15 points. They also lost the first leg match with Abahani by 4-0.< Prev | Next > |
