BJMC pip Ctg Abahani
Dhaka, February 05: Team
BJMC edged past Chittagong Abahani Limited 1-0 in the Nitol Tata Bangladesh
Premier League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Wednesday.
Guineas forward Ismael Bangoura squandered the first
opportunity for BJMC in the 28th minute. After capitalizing a ball,
the Guineas
forward entered into the box and took a powerful shot having the lone goalie
Nahid Uddin in front but it went inches over the crosspiece.
Chittagong Abahani had
chance to take the lead in the 44th minute but forward Javed Khan’s
shot from the box was saved by opponent goalie Arifuzzaman Hemel dived to the
left.
Bangoura missed
another chance in the 45th minute. Ctg Abahani’s onrushing goalie
Nahid punched away the shot was taken by Bangoura from the box.
BJMC was disappointed
again in the 47th minute when their forward Aminur Rahman Shojib
right footed shot went straight to the goalie Nahid.
However, Ismael
Bangoura broke the deadlock in the injury time of the match. The tallest forward
headed home on a curving free kick of midfielder Abdullah Parvez. (1-0)
With this win Team
BJMC took their tally to 10 points from seven matches while Ctg Abahani
remained their previous earning of 4 points from the eight matches.
