Jamal storms into IFA Shield Final
Dhaka, February 11 : Sheikh Jamal Dhannmoni Club Ltd moved into the final of the 118th IFA Shield beating East Bengal 3-0 in the first semifinal held at the Yuba Bharati Krirangan, Saltlake, Kolkata on Tuesday.
Nigerian forward Emeka Darlington opened the scoreline in the 22nd minute, Haitian forward Sony Norde doubled the lead in the 36th minute and Norde’s compatriot Wedson completed the rout in the 67th minute.
Dhaka Mohammedan was the last team to play the final of the IFA Shield back in 1995 when they lost to East Bengal in the shootout after a 1-1 draw in the stipulated time.
Jamal will play the final against the winners of Kolkata Mohammedan-United Sports second semifinal on February 15.
Bangladesh Football Federation president Kazi Salahuddin, senior vice president Abdus Salam Murhedy and all the other executive committee members and the officials congratulated Sheikh Jamal on their feat.
