Dhaka, March 5: Bangladesh drew 2-2 with India in the FIFA International Friendly at the Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Goa on Wednesday.
In the 2nd minute skipper Mamunul Islam’s reached Mithun Chowdhury in the middle of the box but his side-volley was blocked by Arnab Mondal.
Mithun tried his luck from 25 yards out in the 12th minute but his weak shot caused no trouble for Indian keeper Subrata Paul to make an easy save.
India took the lead in the 14th minute after forward duo Robin Singh and Sunit Chettry played one-two and Sunil Chettry kade his way through the Bangladesh defence and beat Bangladesh goalie Shahidul Alam Sohel with neat placing shot (1-0)
Bangladesh equalized in the 52nd minute after Sohel Rana produced a superb footwork in the left flank and cut a low cross, Vincent Hemanta Biswas dummied to deceive the Indian defecne and Mithun Chowdhury tapped the ball in (1-1)
Bangladesh piled up pressure and in the 64th minute defender Arnab Mondal scored and own goal in his effort to clear a cross of Vincent (2-1)
In the 83rd minute Bangladesh goalie Sohel was in his brilliant best as he denied Sunil Chettry twice and then rose to punch Alwin’s header for a corner.
However in the 2nd minute of the five minute added time Sunil Chettry again made his way through the defence and blasted a left footer past Sohel from a close range.
In the 5th minute of the stoppage time Indian goalie Subrata Paul was shown the second yellow card and was sent-off for a foul on Toklis Ahmed.
Vincent and Yeasin made their debut for Bangladesh.
