Soccer confirm quarter-final spot
Dhaka, March 24: Soccer Club Feni confirmed
quarter-final spot beating Rahmatganj MFS 3-2 in the second match of the days
of Modhumoti Bank Independence Cup Football at the Bangabandhu National Stadium
on Monday.
As Rahmatganj and Team BJMC played out goalless draw in their first match.
Gambian midfielder Landing Darboe put Soccer
Club ahead in the 7th minute with a nice header on a cross of
midfielder Rony Islam from the right flank. (1-0)
Landing Darboe doubled the lead in the 31st
minute. The Gambian scored with a upward placing shot from the goalmouth melee
after another Gambian forward Kabba Jobe’s header on free kick of midfielder
Ali Hasan from the left flank was saved by opponent goalie Md. Al-Amin. (2-0)
Rahmatganj came back in the match when their
striker Nurul Absar scored from a spot kick in the 37th minute of
the match. Nurul Absar was badly tackled from the behind by Soccer captain Abu
Sufian Zahid and referee Tayeed Hasan whistled for penalty. (2-1)
Captain Md. Jahangir of Rahmatganj leveled the match in
the 72nd minute with a fierce shot from 20 yards. (2-2)
Defender Abdullah Al-Mamun sealed the victory
for Soccer Club in the 90th minute of the match. The defender scored
with a placing shot on a cutback of midfielder Ali Hasan from the left.
