Dhaka , April 01: Brothers Union moved into semi-finals of the Modhumoti Bank Independence Cup Football beating team BJMC 2-1 in the firs quarter-final at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Tuesday.
Team BJMC charged from the beginning and had the chance to took the lead in the very first minute but their forward Aminur Rahman Shojib headed straight to Brother goalie Sabuj Das Roghu.
However, Jewel Rana put brothers Union ahead in the 9th minute. Winger Rubel Miah took a shot from 20 yards out but the ball hit the cross bar and fell into the feet of forward Jewel Rana who headed home. (1-0).
After the break, Brothers Union controlled the match and doubled the lead through their Nigerian forward Simon in the 53th minute. The Nigerian hitman promptly cracked an angular shot from 20 yards that left BJMC goalie Ariful Isam had nothing to do but watch (2-0)
Team BJMC came back in the match in the 66th minute when their Nigerian forward Uche Felix reduced the margin with a nice header on free kick of defender Khan Md. Tara from the left. (2-1)
Brothers Union will play against the winner between Soccer Club Feni vs Sheikh Russell KC to held on Wednesday in the semi-final.
