MSC edge past Muktis
Dhaka, April 20: Dhaka Mohammedan beat Muktijoddha by 1-0 goal in the second phase of the Nitol-Tata Bangladesh Premier League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium yesterday.
Mohammedan took the lead in the 10th minute when defender Arup Baidya’s cut back was not properly picked out by Muktijoddha defender Gerrard Ledoux and the ball deceived their goalie Rasel Mahmud Liton, Mohammedan forward Emliy standing unmarked tapped the ball inside the net (1-0)
Muktijoddha hit back with a series of attacks but could not break the deadlock. Among them Sunday Chizoba’s left footer rolled past the side post with Mohammedan goalie Mamum Khan standing in the opposite post.
In the 57th minute Mohmmedan winger Zahid Hossain and Muktijoddha skipper Maruf Ahmed both were shown the red card for fighting.
Muktijoddha dominated the later half but could not score a goal. In the 88th minute Elita Kingley’s free kick missed the Mohammedan crosspiece.
Mohammedan took their tally to 17 points from ten matches while Muktijoddha remained on their previous collection of 15 from the same number of matches.
