Jamal rout Muktis
Dhaka, May 2: Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Ltd beat Muktijoddha 2-0 in the second phase of the Nitol-Tata Bangladesh Premier League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Friday.
Both the teams were a little slow in the opening minutes and the game was mainly concealed in the midfield till the half an hour mark.
Jamal put pressure in the later stages and in the 40th minute midfielder Alamgir Kabir Rana, taking control of a Wedson square pass placed straight to Muktijoddha goalie Rasel Mahmud Liton.
In the added time of the first half Emeka Darlington, the Nigerian forward volleyed a Wedson low cross into the feet of Liton.
However six minutes after the break Wedson put Jamal ahead with a neat header. Standing in the middle of the box Wedson headed an Alamgir Kabir Rana cross into the near post (1-0)
In the 77th minute Emeka Darlington doubled the margin. It was Wedson who curved a cross from the right flank and Emeka Darlington headed the ball into the near post ( 2-0)
In the 81st minute Muktijoddha skipper Maruf Ahmed’s free kick was punched for a corner by Jamal goalie Ziaur Rahman.
In the stoppage time Maruf hit the crosspiece with a free kick from 25 yards out.
Jamal tops the table with 31 points from 13 games while Muktijoddha remained on their previous collection of 18 points.
