Baridhara stun BJMC
Dhaka, May 5: Uttar Baridhara shocked Team BJMC 3-0 in the second phase of the Nitol Tata Bangladesh Premier Football League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Monday.
Uttar Baridhara went ahead with just four minutes into the clock through Collins Tiego. A running Nazrul Islam Sumon delivered a long cross from the right flank that found unmarked Kenyan striker who headed into an empty net from the middle of the box.
Guinean striker Ismael Bangoura had two opportunities to restore the parity in two minutes. After firing over the bar from close range in the 32nd minute, Bangoura did the same two minutes later from the just outside six –yard box.
Faiz Alam seemed to have rectified his early mistakes by doubling Baridhara’s lead in the 66th minute. The Indian forward slotted home past BJMC keeper Hemel after a low cross of Khalekur Jamen.
Sujon Biswas sealed the victory by extending the lead to 3-0 in the 87th minute. Collins’ initial header was blocked by Hemel before Sujon placing the ball into far post on the rebound.
Uttar Baridhara have 10 points from 13 matches while BJMC have 15 from the same number of matches.
