Jamal thrash MSC 3-0
Dhaka, May 8: Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club consolidated their place at the top of the point table with a 3-0 victory over Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club in the Nitol-Tata Bangladesh Premier League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Thursday.
Jamal took the lead in the 12th minute when Haitian forward Sony Norde broke through the Mohammedan defecne carrying a long ball of Keshto Kumar and beat goalie Titumir Chowdhury with grounder from the top of the box (1-0)
Mohammedan were hardly settled when Jamal doubled their lead in the 22nd minute and it was Nigerian forward Ameka Darlington who scored the second. Sony Norde curved a cross from the left flank and Wedson placed the ball into the near post (2-0)
Mohammedan defender Arup Baidya was cursing his luck in the added time of the first half when his grounder from 25 yards out hit the Jamal sidepost.
In the counter attack Wedson pulled out a brilliant solo run but failed to beat Mohammedan goalie Titumir on a one to one situation.
Jamal sealed the fate of the match in the 63rd minute with Sony again making his way in the left flank and cut a low cross of Emeka Darlington who placed the ball into the near post (3-0)
Mohammedan's midfielder Hemanto Vincent Biswas was sent off by referee Tayeb Hasan in the 90+3 minute showing direct red card.
Jamal have 34 points from 14 matches while Mohammedan remained on their previous collection of 23 points from the same number of matches.
