Mohammedan pip Brothers
Dhaka, May 22: Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Ltd beat Brothers Union by 2-1 goals in the second phase of the Nitol-Tata Bangladesh Premier Football League at the Bangbandhu National Stadium on Thursday.
Mohammedan took the lead in the 16th minute after Nigerian midfielder Damien Chigozie curved a free kick from the midfield and forward Wahed Ahmed standing unmarked in the middle of the box placed the ball into the far post (1-0)
In the 43rd minute Wahed wasted another chance. Midfielder Vincent Hemata Biswas made Wahed free but his chip over onrushing Brothers goalie Sobuj Das Rogu went over the crosspiece.
Brothers restored the parity through their right winger Rubel Miah in the 52nd minute. Rubel snatched the ball from Vincent and went past three defenders before placing the ball into the middle of the net (1-1).
However Mohammedan was in the driving seat again in the 72nd minute when Wahed controlled a long ball of Topu Barman and went past his marker and Sobuj Das Rogu to place the ball inside the net (2-1).
Mohammedan have 29 points from 16 matches while Brothers remained on their previous collection of 26 points but from 17 matches.
