Dhaka, 03 May: Enamul Haque got his first hatrick of the season as title holders Abahani Limited recorded a big 4-0 win over Chittagong Mohammedan in their Citycell Bangladesh League match at the Bangabandhu National Stadium today.
With this huge win, the sky blues increased the gap with their archrivals Mohammedan who are at the second position of the table with 49 points from 19 matches. From one more clash, Abahani are the table toppers with 58 points.
Abahani took early lead as Enamul scored in the 7th minute. He got the ball outside the penalty area from Parvez and flicked the ball over the onrushing Chittagong keeper James’s head.
Abahanis’ Ghanaian striker Sheriff got a good chance in the 24th minute while he got the ball near the six yards box from fellow countryman Awudu Ibrahim but the ball was eventually cleared by visiting defender Allauddin.
Awudu gave another beautiful pass to Enamul in the 55th minute and this time the national striker made no mistake to send it to the far post with a nice touch to make it 2-0.
Enamul became the highest goal scorer of the competition when he scored in the 85th minute with his favorite right foot after his header came off James. It was his 17th goal and the 9th hattrick of the league.
Zahed Parvez chowdhury sealed the match for the home side by beating the goalkeeper with a long range shot in extra time.
After this loss, Mohammedan are in the sixth position of the table with 20 points from same number of matches. Abahani had defeated the port city side 2-0 in their away match.< Prev | Next > |
