Brothers hold Russel
Dhaka, June 23:
Defending Champions Sheikh Russell Krira Chakkra were held to a 2-2 draw by 10
men Brothers Union in the 3rd phase of Nitol Tata Bangladesh Premier Football League
at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Monday.
Brothers turned into
10 men in the 8th minute when their goalkeeper Md. Sujon was sent
off by referee Azad Rahman showing direct red card after the goalie tackled down Russel
forward Mithun chowdhury outside the box.
Haitian forward
Augustine Welson put Brothers ahead in the 38th minute with a
placing shot on cross of Nigerian forward Kester Akon from right. (1-0)
Russel restored the
parity in the 65th minute through their midfielder Md. Sumon.
Forward Mithun unleashed a low cross to unmark Sumon who placed the ball into
the net without any hesitation. (1-1)
Brothers took the lead
again in the 71st minute when their Nigerian forward Simon Ezeodika
scored goal from the box with an angular shot in the far post. (2-1)
Midfielder Sabuz Kumar
Bizwas of Russel leveled the match in the 74th minute. The
midfielder sent the ball to the net over Sabuz Das Roghu from the edge of
the box. (2-2)
With this draw
Brothers saw their points moving up to 33 played 21 matches while
Russel also moved up to 28 points after playing 21 matches.
