Dhaka, May 04: Mohammedan Sporting Club crushed Brothers Union 3-0 in today’s lone match of the Citycell Bangladesh League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium. With their sixteenth win in twenty matches the league runner-ups retained their second position in the table with 52 points, still six behind leaders Abahani.
The black and whites’ Nigerian recruit Dami scored the opening goal in the 25th minute after Ameli failed to convert a penalty. The referee awarded a spot kick when Brothers defender Apu pulled down Sharif inside their danger zone. Ameli took the penalty which was blocked by the Orange’s goalkeeper Iran and Ariful got the rebound but his attempt was also saved by an acrobatic Iran. However Dami netted the ball with a powerful shot.
Ameli doubled the lead in the 51st minute from a cross by acting Captain Wali Faisal from the left when the national striker Ameli nodded home.
The final goal came from a counter attack as host’s winger Komol, who replaced Captain Arman Aziz in the second half, pushed the ball to Bukola and the Nigerian striker beat an onrushing Iran with a long range low drive.
After their seventh loss in twenty matches, Brothers Union are fifth in the table with 21 points. They also lost their home match 2-0 to Mohammedan.< Prev | Next > |
