Dhaka, May 08: Two second-half goal gave struggling Arambagh Krira Shangha a 2 -1 away win over hosts Muktijoddha Sangshad in their Citycell Bangladesh league match at the Bangabadhu National Stadium today. Arambagh’s victory came after eight matches and after their fourth overall win in 19 matches, they moved to 9th position in the table with 19 points.
The first half of the match was goalless as both the goalkeepers made very good saves. In the 3rd minute home goalkeeper Tarek’s diving effort blocked visiting striker Alfaz Ahmed’s long range shot. In the 27th minute, Muktijoddha forward Shahajuddin Tipu unleashed from outside the box but Arambagh goalie Mitul made an acrobatic save.
Arambagh’s Nigerian recruit Subair Mohammed got the ball in the penalty area in the 49th minute from winger Moloy Barmon, who had a very bright performance on the field and the striker scored with a low-right foot drive to make it 1 - 0.
Visiting captain Alfaz doubled the lead from Moloy’s forward pass in the 53rd minute. The former national striker finished from close after dodging past his rival goalie.
Muktijoddha’s Guinean striker Raphael Sagno headed home a Fuad cross in the 67th minute to reduce the gap. Muktijoddha made three changes after this goal but all their efforts to equalize went in vain.
After this loss now Muktijoddha are in 7th place with 20 points from nineteen clashes. On the other hand Arambagh tasted sweet revenge after losing their first-leg match 3 - 2 against Muktijoddha.< Prev | Next > |
