Islami Bank School Football from Tuesday
Dhaka,September 21: Bangladesh Football Federation's endeavour of expanding the game across the country in the grass-roots sees light for the second time with the Islami Bank National School Football that kicks off with Khulna Division phase from Tuesday.
The first phase of the tournament will be played with the upazila level and as per the data of the BFF 5400 schools, at least ten from each 540 upazlias of the country will be playing in the tournament. The upazila level will be played on knock-out basis and the upalzila champions will be moving to the district level, from there the district level champions will proceed to the divisional level and the divisional level champions will play in the national or final round. All the phases apart from the upazila levels will be played on league basis.
Islami Bank will be providing a purse of Tk. 40 million for the meet. It is the second edition of the Islami Bank sponsored meet.
In press conference held at the BFF House on Sunday, BFF senior vice president Abdus Salam Murshedy and senior assistant secretary of the Education Ministry Abu Kaisar Khan presented the meet to the press. BFF general secretary Abu Naeem Shohag, former footballers Iliyas Hossian, Kazi Jashimuddin Ahmed Joshi and organiser Abu Hossian Prince were also present on the occasion.
