Iran get China ticket
Dhaka, October 23: Iran emerged as the unbeaten champions of group B of the AFC U-16 Women's Championship Qualifiers beating hosts Bangladesh 2-1 at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Thursday. With the win Iran qualified for the final round of the meet scheduled to be held at China on 2015.
Bangladesh went up in the 16th minute as Sanjida floated a free kick in the middle of the box and the Iranian defence failed to clear the ball, unmarked Lipi Akhter slotted the ball into the far post with her left foot (1-0)
Iran equalized in the 60th minute of the match when skipper Fatemeh Geraeli headed a Fatemeh Huseini corner into the middle of the post (1-1)
Iran went up ahead in the 70th minute when defender Nargis Khatun fouled Fatemeh Ghashemi insde the box and the referee awarded a penalty. Fatemeh Ghashemi converted the spot kick (2-1)
Iran topped the table with 12 points, Bangladesh finished with six points, while India were placed second with nine, Jordan had three while UAE lost all of their four points
