Jamal edge past Russel

27, 2015: Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club edged past Sheikh Russel Krira Chakkra
1-0 in the Manyavar Bangladesh Premier League at the Bangabandhu National
Stadium on Monday.
Before starting the match one-minute
silence was observed to the memory of the people who died in Nepal earthquake.
Russel were
close to score in the 18th minute but forward Jahid Hasan Amily shot
went over the crosspiece on a cross of winger Zahid Hossain from the left
flank.
Amily
squandered another chance to move ahead as his pushed straight to Jamal
goalkeeper Mazharul Islam Himel on a cutback of defender Wali Faisal in the 41st
minute.
However,
Landing Darboe broke the deadlock in the 56th minute. Defender Md
Linkon curved a corner from right flag in the middle of the box where the Senegalese midfielder’s
header landed in the far post. (1-0)
Jamal’s
lead could have been doubled in the 66th minute when midfielder
Monayem Khan Raju’s shot hit the crosspiece.
In the 85th
Russel forward Ameli’s header was saved by defender Linkon from the goal line.
Russel Jamaican
forward Akeem Sayeed’s shot hit the crosspiece in the 89th minute.
After this
win Sheikh Jamal earned 18 points from 6 matches while Sheikh Russel remained
with 9 points from 5 matches.
