Kyrgyzstan beat BD 3-1
Dhaka, June 11: Visiting Kyrgyzstan
inflicted a 3-1 defeat upon hosts Bangladesh in the Fifa World Cup Qualifiers
at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Thursday.
Bangladesh started brightly and
piled up pressure upon the visitors but conceded the first goal in the 8th
minute. It was the very first free kick earned by Kyrgyzstan and forward Anton Zemlyanuhin curved the ball
in from about 26 yards (1-0)
Bangladesh conceded the second in
the 28th minute off a penalty. Defender Yamin Munna brought Kyrgyz
forward Viktor Maier down in the left corner inside the box and Edgar Bernhardt
stepped up to convert the penalty (2-0)
However Bangladesh reduced the
margin in the 31st minute when Kyrgyz defender Valeri Kichin in his
effort to clear a corner of Bangladesh skipper Mamunul Islam headed the ball
into his own net (2-1)
Anton Zemlyanuhin added his second
to take the control back to Kyrgyzstan when he powered past the Bangladesh
defence and unleashed a cracking left footer that landed into the middle of the
net (3-1)
Two minutes after the re-start Mamunul Islam
saw his free kick fly over the crosspiece.
In the
84th minute EdgarBerhanndt’s fierce right footer from the top of the
box was fisted to safety by Bangladesh goalie Russell Mahmud Liton.
Bangladesh faces Tajikistan in the next match at Dhaka on June 16.
