Russel rout Muktis
Dhaka, July 11, 2015: Sheikh Russell thrashed Muktijoddha 5-1 in the 2nd leg of Manyvar Bangladesh Premier League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Saturday.
Muktijoddha took the lead in the 8th minute when Senegalese a forward Camar Sarba cut the ball back to Enamul Haque and Enamul after receiving the ball with the chest and placing the ball into the near post (1-0)
Sheikh Russell forward Zahid Hasan Amily missed a penalty in the 10th minute after Muktijoddha goalie Titumir Chowdhury brought Russel winger Zahid Hossain down inside the D-box.
However, Russell’s Cameroonian forward Jean Jules Ikanga converted another penalty in the 17th minute after Titumir again brought Ameli down inside the box, Ikanga sent Titumir the wrong way from the spot (1-1)
Russell was up in the 22nd minute when Nigerian forward Paul Emile snatched the ball from Muktis defender Anisur Alam Sweet and beat Titumir in the far post with a neat grounder (2-1)
Russell midfielder Hemanta Vincent Biswas found Titumir Chowdhury in a one to one situation in the 35th minute but onrushing Titumir closed the gap and saved the ball with his feet.
The lead was extended to three in the 56th minute and it was a superb solo effort of winger Jahid Hossain, Jahid produced a footwork to go past three defenders and coolly placed the ball past Titumir( 3-1)
Paul Emile netted his second and his teams fourth in the 61st minute as he was made free by Jahid Hossain with a square pass in the middle of the box and placed the ball into the far post (4-1)
Substitute forward Rummon Hossain scored the fifth with neat placing shot in the 86th minute and it was Jahid Hossain again who curved the cross to the scorer in the middle of the box (5-1)
With this win Sheikh Russel has 29 points from 13 matches while Muktijoddha has 21 points from 14 matches.
