Dhaka, July 16: Abahani Ltd thrashed Sheikh Russell 5-0 with Nigerian forward Sunday Chizoba slamming the sixth hat-trick of Manyavar Bangladesh Premier League at the Bangabandnu National Stadium on Thursday.

Russell sent the first chill through the Abahani spine in the 17^th minute when their Cameroonian midfielder Jean Jules Ikanga hit the crosspiece from the top of the box.

But it was Abahani who took the lead in the 41^st minute and it was defender Nasirul Islam who put Abahani ahead. Receiving a cross of midfielder Shahedul Alam in the left corner of the box, Nasir kept his cool to chip the ball over Russell goalie Russell Mahmud Liton (1-0)

The lead was extended in the 55^th minute when Nigerian forward Sunday Chizoba struck the second. Taking a square pass of midfielder Abdul Baten Majumder Komol, the wily Nigerian went past his marker and curved the ball into the near post (2-0)

Russell’s woe was intensified in the 77^th minute with midfielder Komol paving the way for his midfield partner Shahedul Alam whose powerful grounder from the top of the box crashed into the middle of the net (3-0)

Sunday struck his second of the match in the 83^rd minute with a superb curving right footer 4-0  and completed his hat-trick in the 89^th minute.

After 15 matches Abahani has 30 while Russell has 32 from 14 matches.
