Rahmatganj sink Muktis
Dhaka, July 25, 2015:
Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society upset Muktijoddha Sanghsad Krira Chakkra 3-2
in the 2nd leg of Manyavar Bangladesh Premier League at the
Bangabandhu National Stadium on Saturday.
Nurul Absar put
Rahmatganj ahead in the 31st minute. Midfielder Yeasin curved a corner
from the left flag in the box where Rahmatganj forward Absar netted the ball
with a side volley. (1-0)
Rahmatganj lead could
have been doubled in the 54th minute when Nurul Absar’s left footer
was punched away by Muktijoddha goalie Titumir Chowdhury.
Muktijoddha restored
the parity through their forward Camara Sarba in the 62nd minute of
the match. The Senegalese forward headed home on a cross of substitute
midfielder Hasanuzzaman Kayes. (1-1)
Rahmatganj took lead
again in the 67th minute. Taking a ball from the midfield, the Nigerian
forward Gideon Solomon entered into the box and placed the ball into the net
beating goalie Titumir. (2-1)
Gideon Solomon extended
the lead for Rahmatganj in the 86th minute with a header on a cross
of Nurul Absar from the right flank. (3-1)
Muktijoddha reduced
the margin through a penalty in the 89th minute. Defender Sawkat
Rasel brought Muktijoddha’s forward Camara Sarba down in the box and referee
whistled for spot kick. Forward Enamul Haque converted the spot kick. (3-2)
With this win
Rahmatganj earned 14 points from 16 matches while muktijoddha remained their previous
earning of 22 points from 17 matches.
