Russel beat Soccer
Dhaka, August 07: Sheikh Russel KC beatt Soccer Club Feni 4-3 in the 2nd leg of the Manyavar Bangladesh Premier League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Friday.
Feni Soccer forward Md. Sohel Miah put his team ahead in the 10th minute when he managed to sneak through the Russell defence and he kept his cool to dribble past two defenders before slotting a curving shot into the far post net ( 1-0)
However Sheikh Russell skipper Mithun Chowdhury replied in the same way in the 24th minute when he picked up a long ball at the top of the box and produced a superb footwork to go past the Feni Soccer defence line and placed the ball into the near post from a close distance (1-1)
Russell came back strongly in the second half and stamped their authority with two quick goals in the 51st and 52th minute. Nigerian forward Paul Emile headed a Kingsley Chigozie cross in the net to put Russell ahead (2-1)
One minutes later Zahid Hasan Emily and Kingsley Chigozie played a one-two to go past the Soccer defence and Emily curved a low shot into the net (3-1)
Soccer Club midfielder Ali Hossain reduced the deficit in the 58th minute when he received a cut back of Lamime Jatta in the middle of the box and drilled a low shot in to net (3-2)
Russell’s woe compounded in the 61st minute when midfielder Abdullah al Mamun ran past the defence and kept his balance to deceive the Russell defenders before slotting the ball home(3-3)
In the injury time Kingsley Chigozie scored the winner with a solo effort for Russel (4-3)
With this win, Russel took their tally to 38 points from 18 matches while Soccer remained their previous earning of 18 points from 18 matches.
