BFF-Saif Powertec sign MOU over BSL

Dhaka, 5 January: Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) and Saif Powertec signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) about hosting the franchise based Bangladesh Super League at the capital on Tuesday.

The first franchise-based professional football league, named Bangladesh Super League is expected to kick-off from November this year.

Seven teams from seven divisions of the country are expected to participate. Saif Powertec recently got involved in Bangladesh football arena after sponsoring Sheikh Kamal International Gold Cup Football last year held in port-city Chittagong.

BFF and Saif Powertec signed the MOU for 15 years with later buying all the marketing rights. BFF president Kazi Salahuddin and Tarafder Ruhul Amin, Managing Director signed the MOU on behalf their organizations.

Abdus Salam Murshedy, Vice President of BFF thanked Saif powertec to come and help to develop Bangladesh football standard. “ We thanks Saif powertec for stepping ahead towards Bangladesh football development..”

“ We want to start a new era of football in Bangladesh. Indian Super League has made an impact and we do hope our Bangladesh Super League also will do so. We hope that Bangladesh will play in the World Cup one day, we have to give Bangladesh booters a dream and dedicated ground with flood light facilities in the divisional stadiums where only football will be played, “ said Managing Director of Saif Powertec on Tuesday.

Chair of Parliamentary Standing Committee of Youth and Sports Zahid Hasan Russel, MP hoped to bring back the golden age of Bangladesh football. “We want to bring back the golden days of Bangladesh Football. I hope this signing ceremony will be the mile stone of Bangladesh football. We hope to bring back the popularity of Bangladesh football also. I demand different stadium for football in the divisional level like cricket, “ said Zahid Russel, MP.

Deputy Minister for youth and Sports Arif Khan Joy assured Bangladesh Super League organizers to set up good flood light in Barisal and Khulna.“ I assure you Barisal Divisional Stadium Flood light will be OK soon. In the Khulna Stadium you will also get flood light facilities.”

State Minister for Youth and Sports Dr. Shri Biren Sikder also hoped that Football will bring back it previous glory. “ I do hope that this type of initiative will bring back glorious age of Bangladesh football. Football can create a new introduction of the nation the world wide “

Tofail Ahmed, M.P, Minister, Ministry of Commerce wished that Bangladesh football will progress in the future after the signing ceremony. “Bangladesh’s Prime Minister loves sports and also I was a sports person. Many great footballers of our country are now involved in the football federation. We also want more government budget for football in the future" said the Minister for Commerce."

BFF and Saif Powertec officials and other ornaizers officials also were present on the occasion.
