Nepal edge past Sri Lanka
Dhaka, January 13, 2016: Nepal kept their semi final hope alive beating Sri Lanka 1-0 in the group A match of Bangabandhu Gold Cup 2016 at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Wednesday.
Nepal took the lead in the 4th minute with defender Rabin Shrestha running down the left flank and provided a neat cutback to Bimol Gharti Magar who placed the ball into the near post. (1-0)
In the 25th minute Lanka had a chance to equalize but forward Kavindu Ihsan placed he ball wide of the side post on a square pass of midfielder Gnanaruban from the right.
Nepalese midfielder Heman Gurung power-packed volley flew over the crosspiece in the 59th minute.
In the remaining minutes Sri Lanka failed to level score line and conceding two consecutive defeat and crashed out of the tournament.
