Consolation win for Cambodia
Dhaka, January 16, 2016: Cambodia finished their Bangabandhu Gold Cup campaign on a winning note of 1-0 against Bangladesh Olympic team in the last match of group B at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Saturday.
Cambodia lost their first match to Maldives 3-2 and second match to Bahrain 1-0 whereas Bangladesh Olympic team drew with Bahrain1-1 in the first match and lost to Maldives 2-0 in the second match.
Cambodia came close to score in the 12th minute when defender Visal Soeuy’s header on a free kick of midfielder Meng Chheng was saved by goalie Ziaur Rahman for corner.
In the 53rd minute Cambodian defender Tola Nub danced down the left flank and went past BD Olympic team captain Rezaaul Karim before unleashing a fierce right footer that was fisted away by BD Olympic goalie Ziaur Rahman.
Bangladesh had a chance to take the lead in the 62nd minute when Kesto Kumar long throw landed in the 6 yards box where Masuk Mia jony deflected to Aminur Rahman Sajib whose shot hit the side post and went outside.
Cambodia broke the deadlock in the 71st minute with the midfielder Dina Tit. Forward Vandeth Son sent a through pass to Dina Tit who cool headedly went past his marker and goalkeeper and placed the ball into the net. (1-0).
With this match Cambodia earned 3 points from three matches while Bangladesh Olympic team earned 1 point from three matches.
