Dhaka, April 2: Brothers Union edged past a ten men Uttar Baridhara 2-0 ÂÂ in the KFC Independence Day Football ÂÂ at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Saturday.
Brothers took the lead in the 34th minute when midfielder Mezbahuddins shot deflected off Uttar Baridhara defender Ariful Islam, Arif standing at the left edge of the six yard box saw the low cross o crash into his own net taking a deflection of his chest (1-0).
Brothers goalie Uttam Barua’s reflex save kept his fort unhurt in the penultimate minute of the first half, Baridhara skipper Sentu Chandra Sen’s diving header on a corner of Khalequzzaman was flying towards the post, but Uttam fisted the ball to safety.
Five minutes into the second half Baridhara was reduced to ten men, defender Farhad Ahmed Shitul handled a goal bound ÂÂ ball and the referee instantly ÂÂ flashed the Red Card.
Nkowcha Kinsley sealed the fate of the match in the 83rd minute scoring the goal with a solo effort (2-0)
