Dhaka, April 5: Sheikh Russell KC defeated Arambagh KS 2-1 in the KFC Independence Day football at the BangabandhU National Stadium on Tuesday.
Armabagh shocked Sheikh Russell in the very 3rd minute of the match when Nigerian forward Kester Akon carrying a through pass of midfielder Shadauzzaman Palash went past the Russell defence and hit the far post net with an angular shot (1-0)
However Armabgah’s joy lasted for just a minute as Russell’s new Ethiopian striker Fikru Zeida scored his first goal in the fourth minute. With the Arambagh defence failing to clear a quickly taken free kick by Atikur Rahman Mishu, Fikru coolly took control of the ball and placed the ball past Arambagh goalie Mitul Hasan into the far post net ( 1-1)
Arambagh and Kester Akon was unfortunate in the 51st minute when the Nigerian forwards saw his curved right footer kissed the crosspiece of Russell Mahmud Liton, the Russell goalie.
Mitul Hasan, the Arambagh goalie dived to his full in the 65th minute to deny Mishu who curved a free kick from the left edge of the box>.
Paul Emil, the Nigerian midfielder sealed the fate of the match in the 82nd minute when his cracking right footer from the middle of the box hit the sidepost and landed into the net (2-1)
