Muktis beat MSC
Dhaka, April 12: Nigerian forward Ahmed Kolo Musa
struck a brace in his teams 2-1 victory over Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting club in
the group A of the KFC Independence Cup at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on
Tuesday.
The first half was rather dull encounter with
both the teams fialing to create any clear cut chances.
However Mohammedans
dominated the scene with their quick footed counter attacks and came close to a
strike on a few occasions, among them the 26th minute attack of winger Yusuf
Sifat who curved a low cross to Ismael Bangoura who mi9ssed the line of the
ball at the top of the six yard box.
In the 65th minute Ismael Bangoura failed to
beat Muktijoddha goalie Mamun Khan in a one to one situation.
But Muktijoddha took the lead in the 73rd
minute from an own goal. Nigerian forward Ahmed Kolo Musa’s cross deflected off a Mohammedan Cameroonian defender Pouemi Landry and landed into the net (1-0).
Ahmed Kolo Musa added his second in the 82nd minute with a curved free kick form 25
yards out (2-0)
Muktijodha has six points from three matches
while Mohammedan has three from the same.
Mohammedan reduced the margin in the stoppage
time through their Guineas
forward Ismael Bangoura who headed the ball home on a corner of Biswanath Ghosh
from the right hand flag.
Muktis earned 6 points from three matches while
Mohammedan remained with 3 points from the same number of matches.
