confirmed semifinals slot from Group A beating Muktijoddha Sangshad KC 3-1 in
the KFC Independence Cup at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Tuesday.
Nigerian forward Emeka Darlington put Sheikh
Jamal ahead in the 13th minute of the match. Defender Anisur Alam
delivered a cross from left flank to unmarked Wedson Anselme who received the
ball in the box and cut the ball back from right and Darlington
tapped the ball into the net. (1-0)
In the 20th minute Jamal forward Shihab
saw his shot punching over the crosspiece by Muktijoddha goalie Mamun Khan for corner.
Jamal doubled the lead through their Gambian midfielder
Landing Darboe in the 44th minute. Haitian forward Wedson Anselme sent
a through pass to unmarked Landing who beat Muktis goalie Mamun Khan with an
angular Shot. (2-0)
Forward Wedson Aneselme scored the third goal
for Jamal in the injury time of first half with a powerful shot from the top of
the box, the ball fed by Landing. (3-0)
Muktis reduced the margin in the 49th
minute from a penalty. Muktis forward Towhid Alam was brought down by Jamal goalie Mazharul Islam Himel in the box and referee whistled for the spot kick. Midfielder
Mobarak Hossain converted the spot kick. (3-1)
Muktis were unfortunate in the 55th
minute as Nigerian forward Kolo Musa’s fierce 20 yards shot hit the crosspiece.
In the 68th minute Muktis forward
Towhidul Alam saw his shot from top of the box was fisted over by Jamal goalie
Mazharul Islam Himel for corner.
After the win Jamal earned 12 points from 4
matches while Muktijoddha remained their previous earning of 9 points from 5
matches.
