Russel move into semis
Dhaka, 18 June 2016: Sheikh Russel Krira Chakkra moved into the semifinals
after a hard fought 1-0 win over Rahmatganj MFS in the second quarterfinal of
Walton Federation Cup at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Saturday.
The match finished goalless draw in the stipulated 90 minute.
Fikru Teferra squandered a chance in the 26th minute. The Ethiopian
striker, receiving Ikanga's misplaced effort, shot straight to the Rahmatganj keeper
Samiul Islam Masum.
Two minutes later, Rahmatganj defender Sawkat Rasel made a goal-line
clearance after Monaem Khan Raju's shot deflected off defender Rafiqur Rahman
Mamun.
In the injury time of first half, Russel’s forward Fikru unleashed a
powerful volley from 20 yards that flew inches over the crossbar, the ball was
fed by Raju.
Rahmatganj were unfortunate in the 61st minute when Sohel
Mia’s right footer hit the crosspiece.
Siyo Zunapio missed an easy chance for Rahmatganj in the 90th
minute of the match. Substitute forward Syed Rashed Turzo sent a cross to Congolese
forward Zunapio who shot straight having
one on one situation with goalie Rasel Mahmud Liton who punched the ball to
safety for a corner.
In the 92nd minute substitute forward of Russel Rummon
Hossain failed to score despite of having the opponent goalie alone. Rummon
shot was saved for corner by goalie Masum.
Paul Emile broke the deadlock in the 102 minute of the match in the
counter attack. Midfielder Jamal Bhuiyan sent a long through pass to Paul who
entered into the box with ball and placed it over on rushing goalie Masum.

Rahmatganj was reduced into 10 men in the 120th minute when
Asif Hossain Rimon was sent off by referee showing double yellow.
