Fed Cup Final Preview
Dhaka, 26 June 2016: The Federation Cup will see champions of 2016 on Monday as Abahani Limited and Arambagh Krira Sangha lock horns in the final of the Walton Federation Cup at 3:30 pm at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Biren Shikhder, MP will be the
chief guest and will distribute the prizes. Deputy Minister for Youth and
Sports Arif Khan Joy, MP and Director of Sports Iqbal Bin Anwar will be also
present on the occasion.
Dhaka Abahani is ready to bag their 9th trophy and take
revenge in their group stage 1-0 defeat while Arambagh will be eager to take
revenge and win the trophy as they lost to Abahani 2001 final.
Both the team passed tough tests before cruising to the final as Arambagh
had a hard time in a 3-1 win against BJMC while Abahani beat Sheikh Russell 2-1 in the semifinals.
Saiful Bari Titu, the coach of Arambagh, hopes his team will take the field to the win
match as they had a winning experience against Abahani in the group stage. “I
have to give credit to everyone. They are mentally strong and are also hungry
for title. I can say that Arambagh will take the field to win the match against
Abahani.” Said Titu.
"We have three young talented players Jafor Iqbal, Abdullah and Supil
but they are unexperienced. They will give their best. I respect Abahani. They are strong and will play for the victory until
the end of the game. We are under dog infront of them, said Titu with
respectfully.
Abahani coach George Kottan expressed that his players were ready to
take revenge. “All the players told me, coach, we are ready to play. We have
fire in our football boots and we will win tomorrow.”said Kottan.
"One week before the first game against Arambagh we hadn't been ready
to start the federation cup. It was our preparation time. We created more than
5-6 chances Arambagh in the first game and unfortunately we didn't score. Now
match by match we are coming up and I have been waiting for the game where we
can score at least 6-7 goals, said Kottan.
The winners will be receiving a purse of Tk 500000.00 while the
runners-up will get Tk. 300000.00.
