Abahani Win Fed Cup Title
Dhaka, 27 June 2016: Abahani Limited lifted the title of Walton
Federation Cup with a hard working 1-0 victory over Arambagh Krira Shangha at
the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Monday.
Abahani came close to a strike in the 9th minute when
winger Jewel Rana’s header on a cross of Lee Tuck was punched to safety by
goalkeeper Mitul Hasan.
Einglish forward Lee Tuck put Abahani ahead in the 11th minute
of the match. Forward Nabib Nawaz Jibon sent a square pass to Lee Tuck who
scored the goal with a left footer from the top of the box, the left footed
curved shot kept Mitul Hasan stranded in the near post (1-0)
Arambagh had a chance to equalize the score in the 50th
minute but forward Jafar Iqbal shot straight to Abahani goalie Shahidul Alam
Sohel who fisted the ball away.
In the 58th minute Arambagh forward Kester Akon’s header
was saved by Sohel who dived to the
right.
Arambagh’s attacking mode was displayed again in the 60th
minute with Kester Akon sending a through pass to Yoko Samnick who shot over
the cross post with Abahani goalie Sohel alone under the woodwork.

Jahid Hasan Rasel, MP, was present as a chief guest and distributed the prizes. BFF Senior Vice President Abdus Salam Mushedy and Kazi Nabil Ahmed, MP and Sports Director of RB group Iqbal Bin Anowar and other BFF officials were also present on the occasion.
