Muktis trounce Russell
Dhaka 18 August 2016: Sheikh Russell KC tasted their fifth defeat in six
matches when they conceded a 2-0 loss to Muktijoddha Sangshad KC in the JB
Bangladesh Premier League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Thursday.
Muktijoddha went up in the 10th minute off an odd goal by when Russell
defender Mintu Sheikh in his attempt to clear a shot of Towhidul Alam sent the
ball into his own net (1-0)
Muktijoddha’s lead was extended in the 26th minute with defender
Monjurur Rahman Manik cutting a long ball to onrushing forward Javed Khan in
the left flank, Russell defender Nahidul Islam failed to intercept the ball saw
his effort went in vain, Javed succeeded to drill the ball into the far post
net (2-0)
In the 57th minute of the match Muktijoddha’s Nigerian forward Ahamed
Kolo Musa sneaked the past the Russel defence carrying a through pass of
midfielder Sohel Rana but much to the dismay saw his right footer kiss the
crosspiece and land outside.
With the win Muktis reached to the top of point table with 12 points
from 6 matches while Russell remained their previous earning of 1 point from 6
matches.
