August 2016: Abahani Limited beat Arambagh Krira Sangha 2-0 in the JB
Bangladesh Premier League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Saturday.
Abahani
produced the first goal in the 4th minute from a penalty. Nigerian forward Sunday
Chizoba was brought down by Arambagh’s Cameroonian midfielder Yoko Samnick in
the box. Sunday
Chizoba converted the spot kick from a rebounder as his first attempt was
fisted by goalie Mitul Hasan. (1-0)
Arambagh had
a chance to level the score but forward Sajidur Rahman Sajid’s placing shot
went wide on a low cross of defender Monsur Amin.
Arambagh
were reduced to 10 men when their midfielder Saddam Hossain was sent off
showing direct red card by referee in the 45th minute.
Nigerian forward
Kester Akon squandered a chance as his shot whiskered over the crosspiece
having one on one position with Abahani goalie Shahidul Alam Sohel in the 66th
minute.
Sunday
Chizoba doubled the margin for Abahani in the 85th minute. Taking a
pass from Lee Tuck, the Nigerian moved forward and entered into the box after
chasing past his marker and scored with a left footer placing shot that beat
onrushing Arambagh goalie Mitul Hasan. (2-0)
After the
win Abahani took their tally to 12 points from 6 matches while Arambagh
remained with their previous collection of 6 points from 6 matches.
