Dhaka, 14 October 2016: Arambagh Krira Sangha edged past Sheikh Russel
Krira Chakkra 1-0 in the JB Bangladesh Premier League at the Bangabandhu
National Stadium on Friday.
Russell came close to the first strike in the 18th minute when
midfielder Jamal Bhuiyan’s corner was headed by forward Shakhawat Rony, the
ball beat Arambagh goalie Pappu in the air but flew past the sidepost.
However it was Arambagh who took the lead in the 37th minute, fed with
a square pass by midfielder Abdullah, Arambagh’s Brazilian midfielder
ThiagoTyson saw his leftfooter deflect off Monaem Khan Raju and land into the
near post net (1-0)
Russell piled up pressure after the restart and in the 69th minute
Rony’s cracking right footer was brilliantly saved by Pappu who dived to his
right to deny Russell.
In the 77th minute Russell’s Cameroonian forward Paul Emile’s side
footed shot whiskered past the Arambagh sidepost.
With the win Arambagh took their tally to 14 points playing 10 matches
while Russel remained with 5 points also playing 10 matches
