Dhaka, December 16: Sheikh Russel Krira Chakara defeated Mohammedan Sporting Club by 2-0 goals in the 20th round of the JB Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) football on Thursday.
With the victory, SK Russel move to 7th place from 9th with 24 points. Meanwhile, Mohammedan SC remained at the 10th position with a fear of relegation.
In the day’s play, Rony netted the first goal for Sk Russel in only the 4th minute of the match. Jamal extended the lead in the 43rd minute utilizing a penalty.
The match was memorable for another reason, as former national defender Rajani Kanta Barman played his last professional match. SK Russel coach Manik started him from the beginning of the match and substituted on 45th minute. Rajani started his football career in 1994-95 with Agrani Bank and over the last 22 years, he has played for almost every major professional clubs of the country. He was also the member 2003 SAFF winning team. Both Russel and Mohammedan team congratulated him with floral reception for his contribution to the country’s football.
