Dhaka,December 18: Brothers Union edged past Uttar Baridhara 2-1 in the JB Bangladesh Premier League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Sunday.
Brothers almost took the lead in the 11th minute when their Haitian forward Augustine Walson curved a free kick from the left edge of the box, however Baridhara goalie Md.Rajib pulled out a super save punching the ball for a corner.
Baridhara were fortunate in the 29 minute when their defender Md.Rocky hit the sidepost in his attempt to clear a chip of Walson.
Brothers drought continued in the 38th minute as Mannaf Rabbi frustrated his team with a casual effort. With Md.Rajib hapless under the bar, Rabbi shot straight to the hand of the goalie.
Mannaf Rabbi broke the dead lock in the 61st minute with a tricky header. Standing at the left hand post of Razib, Mannaf headed a free kick of Kawsar Ali Rabbi in the opposite post leaving Razib stranded (1-0).
But Brothers Union’s joy lasted just six minutes as they conceded an own goal. Cameroonian defender Yonta Michael’s header, while trying to clear a free kick of Khalekuzzaman Sobuj landed into his own net (1-1).
Three minutes ahead of the stipulated time Augustine Walson scored the winner with a sidefooted shot after Mannaf Rabbi set him free with a cut back from the right flank (2-1).
Brothers took their tally to 27 from 20 matches while Baridhara remained on their previous collection of 17,playing the same number of matches.
