Dhaka, January 2: Bangladesh U16 National Women’s Team has emerged as the champions of Group-C of the AFC U-16 Women’s Championship qualifiers in 2016 and is slated for the 2017 U16 AFC Women’s Championship scheduled in Thailand.
The
Asian group champions, including Bangladesh, will meet in Thailand in September
2017 for the main event. In 2016, the Bangladesh U-16 girls’ team came out as
the champions among qualifiers being undefeated throughout the tournament where
they faced Iran, Singapore, Kyrgyzstan, Chinese Taipei and United Arab
Emirates.
With unprecedented success and dreams to achieve something further, the
Bangladesh Women’s team is not to be taken lightly.
Sabina Khatun (C)
Currently leading the national women’s football team, Sabina Khatun is a prolific scorer. Playing for the national side since 2009, this goal machine also has experience playing as a professional outside Bangladesh. Sabina is also leading the team in SAFF Women’s Championship 2016, where she scored five goals in a single match, hopefully with more to come. It was in fact her performance behind Bangladesh advancing to the semis as grou p champions.
Shamsunnahar
Hailing from Mymensingh, Shamsunnahar is a young left-back and is a force to be reckoned with. Covering from the D-box to the midfields with fast pace, this left-back is determined to succeed for her team. She has been playing football since 2012, but has gained much experience from both local and international arenas in her short career and hopes to use that in the SAFF championship matches.
Masura Parvin
Central defender Masura is a pillar of Bangladesh’s defence. Hailing from Sathkhira, Masura has been living with the football dream since 2010 and has never stopped. She plays in an important place where a lot of stamina is required for covering both in and out-field, and she is doing that with finesse and passion. She is a spearhead of team’s overall strategy in the tournament.
Krishna Rani Sarkar
Striking midfielder Krishna is the captain of the U16 National Women’s team and has no equal in her position in Bangladesh. With amazing dribbling skills and a mindset to send the ball flying towards the opponent’s net, Krishna is both a magnificent player and an efficient captain. She is also a member of the national side partaking in SAFF football championship.
Marzia Khatun
The left-forward, Marzia is an irreplaceable member of the women’s national teamÂÂÂ for her set pieces – left corner and special free kicks. She scored 5 goals in Nepal and 3 goals in Tajikistan during the AFC U-16 qualifiers in 2015 and 2016. She hopes to take her experiences to a higher level with more success. Marzia is also part of the cast feeding the ball to Sabina in the SAFF games.
Sanjida Akter
Playing across the field from Marzia – right winger Sanjida is another prolific scorer of the team. With pace and stamina, Sanjida loves to score for Bangladesh. She also takes specialised free kicks and covers the right corner set pieces for the team. Sanjida hopes to take her scoring tally further during the SAFF Women’s Championship in India.
