Dhaka, February 7: Former Bangladesh national team footballer Akhteruzzaman Khan Babu breathed his last at the age of 58 on February 6 at the Christian Missionary Hospital in Vellore, India.
He was suffering from diabetes, hypertension and other old age complications.
The veteran footballer left behind his wife, two sons and numerous admirers to mourn his death.
Akhteruzzaman Khan Babu joined the ranks of Bangladesh National Football team during 1982-83 as a regular member of the squad.
He also had a glittering club career playing for teams like Dhaka Abahani Limited, Brothers Union, Wari Club and Surjatarun Football Club.
BFF President Kazi Salahuddin Ahmed and other members of the federation expressed their sincere condolences and mourn the death of the veteran player.
