Singapore, February 16:The Bengal girls lost a very well-fought first match to a much stronger Singapore team 3-0 at the women’s development tournament.
The Asian city state, ranked 98th in the world, opened their scorecard early on in the game. Their first goal came in the 9th minute and the second in the 39th.
Singapore booters found the opponent’s net a third time soon after they got back to the field in the second half. The 48-minute goal was followed by several chances at the goal.
There were three more chances in the latter half of the game where the pressure of the game got the better of Bangladesh strikers.
Despite keeping more possession(65%) and taking more shots(12 against Singapore's 5), Bangladesh could not find the net as the strikers took shot wide or over the bar.
Bangladesh is scheduled to play 82nd ranked Malaysia on Friday which poses the prospect of an even tougher match for the Bengal girls ranked 114th in the world.
