Dhaka, February 19: Nepal’s Manang Marshyangdi Club made a flying start in the Sheikh Kamal International Club Cup 2017 with a 2-0 win over Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Cub Ltd. on Sunday afternoon.
Mohammedan forward Aminur Rahman Sajib hit the side post in the 43rd minute and thus squandering a chance to put his side on the front foot.
Instead, after a barren first half, the Nepal national league champions took the lead in the 53rd minute courtesy of a cool finishing by Zambian striker Afeez Ollawale Oladipo.
Taking control of a long ball from Rohit Chand, the tall Zambian shrugged off his marker and chipped the ball over the onrushing Mohammedan goalie Mamun Khan into the middle of the net (0-1).
Then three minutes before the final whistle, Manang sealed the victory with Bishal Rai hitting the back of the net off a through ball from Oladipo (0-2).
With this defeat of Dhaka Mohammedan, the plight of local teams continued as Dhaka Abahani lost 1-0 to TC Sports Club on Saturday.
